Tyres for vans and light trucks

Delivery vans, trade vehicles, pickups: tyres that work loaded, all year round. The workshop equips independents, companies and public bodies across the Lausanne region.

The C marking: a reinforced tyre

A van tyre is recognisable by the C after the diameter, for example 215/65 R16C. Its reinforced carcass takes higher pressures (often 4.5 bar and more at the rear) and carries a dual load index, for example 109/107: the first applies to single fitting, the second to twin fitting.

Fitting passenger-car tyres on a van to save a few francs is a false economy: overheating, rapid wear and a risk of blowout under load. The registration document is the reference.

Load and pressure: the real subject

An empty van and a fully loaded one are two different vehicles. Manufacturers prescribe two separate pressures: use the one that matches your actual load, especially on the rear axle. An underinflated C tyre at full load runs dangerously hot on the motorway.

  • Pressure check every two weeks, vehicle cold.
  • After any unusual load (house move, building materials), adjust.
  • Metal valves are recommended above 4.5 bar.

Winter with a working vehicle

Winter tyres are not a legal obligation in Switzerland, but for professionals the question barely arises: a site or a delivery round does not wait for the thaw, and after an accident on unsuitable tyres the insurer may reduce its payout and the keeper's liability is engaged.

For vehicles that climb, think of snow chains too: some local roads require them at short notice, and we supply them in the right size.

Companies and fleets

Since 1927 the workshop has worked with Lausanne companies and public bodies: equipping new vehicles, seasonal follow-up, storage of summer and winter sets, and grouped interventions to keep vehicle downtime short.
